This Isn't a Crisis. It's a Calling
For every woman standing at the crossroads of who she was and who she's meant to be
I remember sitting at my desk surrounded by legal files and a coffee that had gone cold two hours ago and thinking: This doesnât fit anymore.
Not the blazer. Not the title. Not the version of me who had worked so hard to earn both.
I was a practicing attorney. On paper, I had made it. I had the credentials, the letterhead, the LinkedIn profile that made family members brag about me. And yet something deeper was pulling me â quietly at first, then with increasing urgency â in a completely different direction.
Maybe you know that feeling.
That low hum of knowing youâve outgrown something you once fought hard to become. That the career you built no longer feels like a home; it feels like a costume.
Hereâs what I want you to hear before anything else: that feeling isnât a crisis. Itâs a calling.
The Identity Death Nobody Warns You About
I was still too afraid to leave the career I took years building.
So, the Universe intervened. I got laid off.
When it happened, I was equal parts terrified and relieved.
And hereâs the thing I didnât expect until it happened to me: I didnât just leave a job. I left an identity.
âAttorneyâ had been woven into how I introduced myself at parties, how I measured my worth, and honestly, how I assumed God saw me. It was like my value was permanently attached to the credentials behind my name.
The transition to career coaching, writing, and AI wasnât graceful. There was a season of standing in the in-between â not quite the lawyer anymore, not yet the coach. Just... Ana. Which, at first, felt terrifyingly thin.
That void has a name: identity death. And it is real.
Itâs the grief of releasing who you were.
Youâre Not Falling Apart. Youâre Being Rebuilt.
Hereâs what I know now that I couldnât see then:
The discomfort of that in-between season was a sign I was growing into something I couldnât fully see yet. Thatâs the hardest part. Youâre asked to trust a destination you havenât arrived at. To release the old blueprint before the new one is created.
Faith calls this walking by faith, not by sight. And friend, itâs not easy.
But hereâs whatâs also true: the skills you built in your âbeforeâ life donât disappear. They transform. My legal training: research, breaking down complexity, writing under pressure, advocating for others didnât vanish when I left law. It became the foundation of everything I do now. My coaching practice. My newsletter. My content strategy.
Your experience is not baggage. Itâs inventory.
You are not starting over. You are redirecting.
If Youâre in the In-Between Right Now
Youâre not behind. Youâre not broken. Youâre between chapters, and that is exactly where transformation lives.
Three things that helped me navigate the void:
1. Name what youâre grieving. Donât skip this step. The old identity deserves acknowledgment before you release it. Journal it, pray over it, say it out loud: âIâm letting go of _____, and that matters.â
2. Separate your worth from your title. Your value was never the job. It was always you, your wisdom, your way of seeing things, your lived experience. Those donât go anywhere.
3. Give yourself permission to just be for a season. The new identity is forming. It doesnât need to be announced yet. It just needs space to breathe.
Your next chapter isnât a consolation prize.
Itâs the main event
And itâs already in motion. đ

P.S. I know you didnât ask, but⊠Iâll let you in on a little secret. Iâm using a proprietary app that helps me come up with the perfect AI prompt in less than 2 minutes.
Itâs called Revven â and not only does it give you great prompts, but it also combines ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Nano Banana, Veo 3.1, and other AI tools. Yes, you heard that correctly!
