The Question AI Can't Answer (But Your Soul Already Knows)
Why asking AI for answers might be avoiding the real question
Last January, I asked ChatGPT a question I’d been wrestling with for months:
“Should I quit my job?”
Within seconds, it delivered a perfectly reasonable 7-paragraph response on financial stability, career goals, job satisfaction, and market conditions.
All relevant. All logical.
But it didn’t know ME.
It didn’t know I was waking up with dread every Monday. That my boyfriend kept asking why I was always exhausted. That I’d been praying for clarity for six months but kept ignoring the nudges.
And here’s what hit me as I read that AI response:
I wasn’t asking ChatGPT because I didn’t know the answer.
I was asking because I didn’t want to trust what I already knew.
When Technology Reveals Your Faith Gap
We’re living in this moment where AI can do almost everything—write novels, code applications, create Hollywood-quality videos.
But it can’t do the one thing that actually moves you forward:
Make YOUR decisions.
And honestly? Thank God for that.
Because if AI could make our decisions, we’d never have to face the uncomfortable truth: most of the time, we already know what we’re supposed to do.
We’re just scared to do it.
We ask AI (or friends, or mentors, or anyone who will listen), hoping someone will either:
Give us permission to do what we want, or
Talk us out of the scary thing our intuition is whispering
But neither of those moves us closer to our calling.
The Real Problem Isn’t Your Strategy
Here’s what I see happening with the women I work with:
They come to me wanting AI strategies and content systems.
And yes—we can work on those things. Because efficiency matters. Strategy matters.
But what REALLY shifts everything?
When they finally stop outsourcing their decision-making to everyone else and start listening to what God’s already telling them.
You know that thing you’ve been “praying about” for months?
The business pivot you keep researching?
The offer you’re “not quite ready” to launch?
The boundary you need to set with that client?
You already know what you’re supposed to do.
Your spirit knows. Your intuition knows. God’s been showing you.
But knowing and TRUSTING are two different things.
AI Shows You Where You Need to Do Inner Work
Here’s what’s wild:
The better AI gets, the more it reveals where OUR work actually is.
When you type “Should I start a business?” into ChatGPT and get a generic response—that frustration you feel?
That’s your spirit saying: “This isn’t the real question.”
The real questions sound more like:
Am I willing to be visible even when I’m terrified?
Can I trust God’s provision if I leave a stable paycheck?
Do I believe my message matters enough to keep showing up when no one’s watching?
Am I ready to serve even when it’s uncomfortable?
Those questions can’t be answered by AI.
They can only be answered through the inner work—the journaling, the prayer, the sitting with discomfort, the choosing faith over fear.
Decision Journaling: Where Faith Meets Action
This is why I teach Decision Journaling in everything I do.
Not because journaling is some magical productivity hack.
But because it’s where you learn to hear yourself—and hear God—clearly.
When you journal, you stop performing. You stop trying to figure out the “right” answer.
You get quiet enough to hear what’s true.
Try this tomorrow morning:
Sit down with your journal BEFORE you open ChatGPT or ask anyone for advice.
Write about one decision you’re facing. Use these writing prompts:
What is my spirit already telling me about this?
What am I most afraid will happen if I trust that knowing?
Where have I seen God’s faithfulness before in situations like this?
What would I do if I believed my calling is bigger than my fear?
Write until you feel that shift—that moment when you stop spinning and start knowing.
Then—and only then—use AI to help you with the HOW.
Because once you know what God’s calling you to do, AI becomes incredibly useful for:
Structuring your message
Creating systems that support your mission
Amplifying your reach without burning out
But AI can’t tell you WHAT your mission is.
Only you—in partnership with God—can discern that.
Your Business Is Your Ministry
Here’s what I believe with my whole heart:
Your business isn’t just a business. It’s a ministry.
Your content isn’t just content. It’s service.
Your voice isn’t just marketing. It’s your calling speaking.
And you can’t outsource your calling to an algorithm.
You can use AI to write faster, research deeper, and create more efficiently.
But the DECISION about what to create? What to say? Who to serve? What feels aligned?
That requires you to know yourself deeply—and trust God completely.
Start with one journaling exercise tomorrow morning.
Ask the real questions.
Listen for the real answers.
Your intuition already knows. Your job is to trust it.
