Stop Wearing All the Hats, Create Your Custom GPT in 5 Easy Steps
How to build your own AI copywriter that knows your brand voice, understands your audience, and writes like you (even if you've never used ChatGPT before)
Are you an entrepreneur or thinking about becoming one?
If this is you, I’m buzzing with excitement to share one of my favorite business game-changers with you.
You know that feeling when you discover something so helpful it feels like cheating? That's exactly how I felt when I first learned about custom GPTs!
Here's the thing:
As entrepreneurs building online businesses, we're wearing ALL the hats – copywriter, social media manager, customer service rep, content creator, and about fifteen other roles.
What if I told you there's a way to create your own personal AI assistant that knows your brand voice, understands your audience, and can help you write everything from newsletters to product descriptions?
Let me walk you through creating your very first custom GPT, even if you've never touched ChatGPT before.
Step 1: Get Started with ChatGPT
First, head to chat.openai.com and create an account. You'll need the paid version (ChatGPT Plus at $20/month) to access custom GPTs – trust me, it's worth every penny!
Once you're logged in, look for "Explore GPTs" in the sidebar, then click "Create a GPT."
Step 2: Give Your GPT a Purpose
Think of this like hiring your dream assistant. What do you want them to help you with?
For example: "I want you to help me write email newsletters in my warm, conversational brand voice for women entrepreneurs starting online businesses."
The more specific you are, the better your GPT will perform!
Step 3: Train Your GPT on Your Voice
Here's where the magic happens! Upload examples of your writing – past newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, emails. I usually upload 5-10 pieces of my best content.
You can also paste text directly into the instructions box. Include details like:
- Your target audience
- Your brand values
- Words you love (and hate!)
- Your writing style preferences
Step 4: Test and Refine
Start a conversation with your GPT and ask it to write something small – maybe a social media caption or post. Does it sound like you? If not, give it feedback and adjust the instructions.
This is an iterative process, so don't expect perfection immediately!
Step 5: Name and Save Your Creation
Give your GPT a fun name (mine is "Ana's Brand Voice Assistant") and write a description. Make sure to save it for your personal use.
Let me know if this process feels overwhelming or exciting – I love hearing from you!
